SF Energy Watch Success Story: Thirsty Bear Brewery

Thirsty Bear Brewery

Thirsty Bear has been in the industry for 12 years becoming the first and only brewery in San Francisco to serve all certified premium organic handcrafted ales and lagers. No pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used in their organic malts. It serves only sustainable harvested seafood; all natural meats free of growth hormones, antibiotics and synthetic additives; seasonal local produce and, whenever economically possible, uses organic ingredients.

Thirsty Bear recently replaced 300 light bulbs with energy savings bulbs and has seen a reduction of their energy usage. The program incentives made a lot of sense to them and they are happy with the results. Thirsty Bear is an establishment that cares about the health of its customers and the environment. In addition to reducing energy, it also diverts most of its waste from the landfill through recycling and composting.

Benefits include:

  • Cost Savings
  • Employee Satisfaction
  • Marketing Value
