Penalties for Violation of the Landmark Tree Code
There are serious criminal, civil, and administrative penalties for harming a Landmark Tree or removing a Landmark Tree without a permit from the Department of Public Works.
Criminal penalties may include both monetary fines and jail time; civil and administrative penalties include monetary fines and fees. These fines and fees are based on the value of the tree and can be considerable, as the value of a Landmark Tree is likely higher than an average tree.
