Recycle used motor oil and filters
San Francisco has over 30 used motor oil collection centers around the City where you can safely dispose of your used motor oil and filters for FREE. Some centers also accept antifreeze. Find a convenient collection center nearest you using RecycleWhere.
Sites accept up to 5 gallons per visit. Sometimes the tanks are full, so be sure to call first. Do not mix used motor oil with anything!

Are you an auto repair or tune-up shop? It pays to be green. Become a used motor oil collection center and earn 16 cents per gallon of oil generated through your business and 40 cents per gallon of oil brought in by do-it-yourselfers. Help keep your neighborhood clean and green! Rick Cole, owner of ABC Auto Parts, says, “By doing my part, I reduce the amount of used motor oil that goes down the storm drain.”
