Goals and Outcomes
With many ordinances, policies and incentives for building green, San Francisco has made huge strides in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, diverting waste away from landfills, conserving water and other natural resources, as well as using and reusing green building materials. Although we have come this far as a city, there is still much more to do in order to create a sustainable future for all San Franciscans.
San Francisco is habitat for 800,000 people – meeting needs for space to work, play, and learn; for food, water, and air; for community with local flora and fauna. SF Environment provides support for urban agriculture and forestry and green buildings, helping residents and businesses harness environmental opportunities.
