San Francisco Sets National Composting/Recycling Record with 80% Landfill Diversion
San Francisco has achieved an 80 percent landfill waste diversion rate, setting national recycling and compost rate records as the highest of any city in North America. This is a huge milestone, and we are still working hard to achieve our goal of zero waste, a 100% diversion rate, by the year 2020! More >

Paper or Plastic? Neither!
With the checkout bag ordinance in effect, we have kicked off a major grassroots campaign to educate San Francisco shoppers. Through November 15, we will be handing out 17,000 free reusable bags at over 60 locations around town to encourage residents to bring their own bag when shopping. More >
