Elixir

Elixir saloon was one of the first businesses in San Francisco to become certified “green.”

H. Joseph Ehrmann, Proprietor of San Francisco’s historic Elixir saloon, believes that “as a daily gathering place for people of all backgrounds, professions and lifestyles, we have the ability to influence many people in their daily lives. By highlighting the practices we employ in running Elixir, the products that we serve, and the actions that they can take to make a difference, we can communicate change on a daily basis and in a casual, yet influential environment. As a neighborhood bar, I feel it is our responsibility to affect the neighborhood in as many positive ways as we can.”

Actions/Accomplishments that make Elixir uniquely green:

  • Serve a variety of Organic beer, wine and spirits--including 100% organic cocktails
  • Recycle 100% of the product packaging that comes through the business (bottles, cans, boxes, paper)
  • Hosts a “Green Drinks” happy hour to promote Green Biz networking and awareness
  • Partner in “Green & Tonic,” a newly formed group with a mission to help San Francisco bars become green businesses.
