SF Reduced Risk Pesticides; LEED-EB O&M
PESTICIDES & US GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL LEED-EB O&MFor compliance on "least-hazardous pesticides":
1) Find least hazardous (Tier III) pesticides in the SF Pesticide Hazard Screening List. If your product is not in that List, screen your product using criteria in the SF Pesticide Hazard Screening Protocol with the Pesticide Action Network database, for example.
2) Do not limit your organization to only use the SF Reduced-Risk Pesticide List because it may not list products you need, or may list more toxic products you do not need. To create your pesticide list, get feedback & buy-in from your pest managers on least-hazardous pesticides that suit their needs.
ANYONE MANAGING PESTS FOR PROPERTIES OWNED BY OR LEASED FROM THE CITY MUST:
1) Use chemical pesticides only after all preventive and non-chemical control options have been exhausted.
2)Use the SF Reduced-Risk Pesticide List & Checklist to Comply with IPM Ordinance. To use other products, apply for a Pesticide Exemption Request.
3) Sign up for emails on new products & trainings.
4) Get trained by chris.geiger@sfgov.org on how to enter pesticide use data into the new, web tool, PURS. Then enter data here monthly.
The City places strict limitations on the kinds of pesticides that may be used. Every product in the SF Pesticide List has been screened using the SF Pesticide Hazard Screening Protocol, and has been reviewed by the SF IPM Technical Advisory Committee (IPM TAC) and a public hearing. The IPM TAC considers product hazards, potential for exposure, and existence of safer alternatives before placing products on the SF Pesticide List.
Buy other SF Approved green products (e.g., fertilizers, compost, graffiti removers, disinfectants).
