Toxics Recycling for Residents
San Francisco residents have several free and convenient options to safely recycle and dispose of their hazardous materials:- Home Collection Service: This service is available to all SF Residents. Call Recology at (415) 330-1300 to schedule an appointment for free home pick-up of old paints, pesticides, motor oil, and other unwanted toxic products.
- Neighborhood Drop-Off Sites: There are more than one hundred retail and nonprofit establishments that serve as convenient drop-off locations for a variety of common toxic products including batteries, fluorescent lights, latex paint, used motor oil and filters, needles and syringes, and mercury thermometers. To find a convenient drop-off location near you, conduct a zip-code search in our EcoFinder.
- Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Facility: You can also drop off toxic household waste yourself. The facility is open year-round, but with limited days and hours. Make sure to read the special instructions before going to the facility.
