Donate Your Unwanted Items

Wonder what to do with a box of beautiful fabric scraps? A pile of bricks? Do you need camping equipment but don't want to purchase it new? Below are some innovative resources for donating items for reuse, locating used things for free or cheap, and renting stuff out. Using less, buying less, and reusing things helps conserve precious resources and minimize waste. Thank you!

Goodwill accepts a wide range of new or used items, including clothing, appliances, electronics and furniture. Broken items are fixed or recycled in their worker training program.

Craigslist Provides free classifieds in an online platform for folks to help each other out with buying, selling, donating and trading used goods.

Freecycle Join a free email listserv within your geographic area where you can post items to donate and search for free items. Everything posted must be free.

Rentalic Online rental marketplace that enables individuals or businesses to rent items, services, and real estate to/from each other.

SCRAP - Scroungers' Center for Re-usable Art Parts (SCRAP) provides teachers and community groups with interactive learning materials to support excellence in education. Accepts and sells arts and crafts items and unusual things, including fabric, sewing notions, and paper craft materials.
