Emergency Ride Home

Emergency Ride Home
The San Francisco Emergency Ride Home (ERH) program provides a free or low-cost ride home in cases of emergency for employees who use alternative transportation, such as carpooling, vanpooling, public transit, bicycling, and walking.

ERH eases the worry of being stranded at the office if an unexpected situation arises, so commuters can leave their cars at home!

I am a San Francisco employer. How does the program work?

  1. Employer Enrolls: All San Francisco businesses are eligible to participate in this free, City program by completing an Employer Agreement and mailing or faxing it to our department.

  2. Employee Emergency Arises: The employee obtains permission to take a ride from their designated on-site contact. Either the employee or on-site contact arranges for a taxi ride, rental car, or carshare vehicle. The trip may be paid by either the employee or the employer.

  3. Submit Reimbursement Request: Employee or employer submits a reimbursement request form, along with original receipts, to "Emergency Ride Home Program", 11 Grove Street, San Francisco, CA 94102.

See our ERH brochure and Employer Agreement for specific eligibility and enrollment information.
