Urban Nature

Urban Nature
What makes one city more livable than another? Urban nature — the open spaces, vegetation, and animals who live in and around a city — can make a big difference. Here in San Francisco we're aware of the ecological importance of preserving and maintaining all the living things that have been entrusted to our care.

At the same time, we're fostering public awareness of the crucial importance of urban nature by creating programs like community gardens, farmers' markets in low-income communities, re-landscaping projects, and park and recreational opportunities in densely populated areas of the city to make San Francisco a better place to live.
