Grants, Request For Proposals & Request For Qualifications

SF Environment provides grants to 501(C)3 organizations in the areas of Environmental Justice, Zero Waste and Toxics Reduction. Grant solicitations are generally released in mid-winter for programs to begin during the following fiscal year (July-June).

Zero Waste and Toxics Reduction projects selected for funding will move San Francisco closer to its aggressive waste diversion goals, particularly those that achieve cost-effective, sustainable landfill diversion in areas such as materials re-use, construction and demolition, food waste, and reduction of toxics going to landfill. Environmental Justice grants focus on projects in the Bayview Hunters Point or Potrero Hill neighborhoods that promote food security, improve air quality, reduce the City's reliance on fossil-fueled power plants, and promote economic development and employment in the environmental field.

In addition, SF Environment periodically releases Requests for Proposals (RFPs) seeking subcontractors to perform specific technical support services. Contracts may be awarded to "for-profits" or "non-profits" in such areas as alternative fuels, outreach, energy efficiency, renewable energy and toxics reduction. RFP's are released throughout the year.
