Resolution approving Department of the Environment Funding Recommendations for multiple community grant awards.

WHEREAS, the City and County of San Francisco, Department of the Environment administers several grant programs and provides funding to non-profit groups for a wide range of community projects and to promote public engagement; and,

WHEREAS, on August 29, 2014, the Department issued a Request for Proposals to solicit proposals for community projects, including  (a) Log Cabin Ranch garden and nutrition project; (b) Excelsior bicycle project; and (c) Community engagement for Climate Change.  Based on a review and evaluation of the grant applications, the Department recommends  funding awards to four non-profit organizations; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, the Commission approves the award of grants, totaling $320,625  to be disbursed during FY 2014-15 and FY 2015-16, to the following organizations: 

 

A. Phillip Randolph Institute-San Francisco                                                                       $   20,000

 

The Bay Institute Aquarium Foundation                                                                       $   19,974

 

People Organizing to Demand Environmental & Economic Rights                                $   70,000

            (fiscal sponsor Tides Center)

 

Urban Sprouts (2-year award)                                                                                  $ 210,651

          (fiscal sponsor San Francisco Parks Alliance)
