[Zero Waste Grant Awards for Fiscal Year 2017-2019]

Resolution approving Department of the Environment Funding Recommendations for Zero Waste grant awards to thirteen organizations in grant cycle period (FY 2017 – 2019)

WHEREAS, The Zero Waste program of the Department of the Environment provides grant funding to non-profit groups; and,

WHEREAS, the Zero Waste grant program is dedicated to funding projects that recover material from San Francisco’s landfill, thereby assisting the City in achieving its goal of zero waste, and achieving this at a low cost per ton of waste diverted; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to helping San Francisco reach its zero waste goals, these grant funded projects achieve a range of co-benefits such as creating jobs, providing classroom materials for educators, securing healthy food and books for low-income San Franciscans, and building community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, the Commission approves the award of Zero Waste grants, totaling $857,000 to be disbursed during FY 2017-2019 to the following organizations:
