My building does not have compost or recycle bins. What should I do?

The first thing you can do if you do not have a composting or recycling bin is to ask for one! Remind your property owner or landlord that San Francisco's Mandatory Recycling and Composting Ordinance has been effective since October 2009. Setting up recycling and composting service is easy  - have your property manager or landlord contact Recology at  (415) 330-1300 and a the right bins and weekly service will be provided at no additional charge. Tenants in apartments and office buildings are entitled to blue bins for recyclables and green bins for compostables. 

If your landlord or property manager has declined requests to provide these services, fill out the Mandatory Recycling & Composting Ordinance Non-Compliance Form and SF Environment will contact them. You may also use the form to report events or businesses that need assistance or service.
