Picking up a sick child?
Submit your taxi ride receipt(s) within 30 days of your emergency taxi trip(s) to get your money back up to $150, even if both locations are outside of San Francisco.
If you leave your place of work* in San Francisco to pick up a sick child, you can get paid back for your taxi trips to their school/childcare and home up to $150.
- Pay for your taxi rides (see list of Official Taxis) and save your receipts
- Submit your taxi ride receipt(s) within 30 days of your trip to get your money back up to $150 (tips not included)
- You may get paid back up to $150 four times per year
Uber or Lyft rides will NOT be paid back. Call an official taxi or download one of the following apps to order a taxi when you need a ride:
*Please note, you must have traveled to work in San Francisco by walking, biking, transit, scooter, or carpool, and you must be 18 years of age or older at the time of the taxi ride to get paid back. What is allowed:
- You can take one emergency-related side trip on the way home from your child’s school/childcare, including picking up medicine at a pharmacy, or stopping at an ATM for cash to pay the taxi driver
- Your trip can end at home, a transit stop, or the location of your parked car (e.g. park-and-ride lot, carpool partner’s home, etc.) either in or outside of San Francisco.
- Trips must start at your work location in San Francisco
- You must have traveled to work by walking, biking, transit, scooter, or carpool to get paid back for a taxi ride
Trips that will not get paid back:
- Pre-planned medical appointments
- Emergencies that you need an ambulance for
- Non-emergency related side trips on the way home
- Rides taken by Uber or Lyft (only official taxis qualify)
