Do I have to be a San Francisco resident to volunteer?
No, you don’t have to be a San Francisco resident to volunteer with us. Everyone is welcome!
What is required to volunteer with us?
All participants must sign the waiver form upon registration to volunteer for each opportunity.
How can I start volunteering with SF Environment?
You can register by selecting which opportunity you’d like to attend on our calendar.
What should I bring?
- Gardening gloves
- Snacks and water (reusable water bottle)
- Comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes

What is the weather and cancellation policy?
We will notify volunteers within 24 hours in advance, if an opportunity must be cancelled due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
Can people under 18 volunteer?
- Yes! In order to volunteer, guardians are required to sign the waiver form for their minor. This is completed through the Golden Volunteers registration process.
- The San Francisco Environment Department requires all volunteers who are 13 years old or younger be accompanied by their legal guardian or a trusted adult designated by their legal guardian for the duration of the Event.
