Austin Hunter

Term: August 29, 2023 – March 25, 2027

Austin Hunter was appointed to the Commission on the Environment by Mayor London Breed on May 27, 2021. Austin serves on the San Francisco League of Conservation Voters Board (SFLCV), which seeks “to promote environmental protection through active participation in the San Francisco political system and to enhance the integrity of that political system for all San Franciscans.” Austin has formerly been involved in a variety of community organizations including the Public Utilities Commission Community Advisory Committee, the Eastern Neighborhoods Democratic Club, and as an elected delegate to the California State Democratic Party. In his professional capacity, Austin works in the responsible and ethical innovation space, helping companies early in the product development process think through a product’s lifecycle to identify and minimize harms while maximizing the ability to responsibly innovate. 

Austin holds a B.A in international relations and political science from San Francisco State University and a M.P.P. from King’s College of London. He currently attends Golden Gate University School of Law, where he has been awarded a full-tuition scholarship.

 

Vince Yuen

Term: October 30, 2023 – March 10, 2027

Vince Yuen was appointed to the Commission on the Environment by Mayor London Breed on October 30, 2023. Vince is the founder of Refuse Refuse San Francisco, a grassroots volunteer effort dedicated to keeping San Francisco clean.

After picking up trash with his two young daughters, Vince discovered that caring for San Francisco was his greatest passion. As of October 2023, the campaign has organized over 1,800 neighborhood cleanups and removed over 500,000 gallons of trash from San Francisco’s streets, parks, and beaches. Vince is focused on keeping the city clean by supporting neighborhood cleanups, educating the public on available resources, and building community through civic engagement and volunteerism.

Vince holds a M.B.A from the UC San Diego Randy School of Management, where he was President of the Rady Entrepreneur Club. He lives in San Francisco's Richmond District.
