Land Acknowledgement 

The Urban Forestry Council Planning and Funding Committee acknowledges that we occupy the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone peoples, who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. We wish to pay our respects to the Ancestors, Elders and Relatives of the Ramaytush Community and to affirm their sovereign rights as First Peoples. We honor the Ramaytush Ohlone for their enduring commitment to steward Mother Earth. We recognize that the Ramaytush Ohlone have lived in harmony with nature for millennia, and that to achieve a truly ecologically sustainable future for San Francisco, we must embrace Indigenous traditional ecological knowledge in how we care for the city’s lands, waters, and all its people.

    The Urban Forestry Council will discuss nominations and potentially vote to elect new council officers.

     

  6. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding the Future of Collaborative Urban Forestry in San Francisco. Speaker: Jesus Lozano, Urban Forestry Council Coordinator. (Discussion) 

     

    The Urban Forestry Council will continue discussion on the future of collaborative urban forestry in San Francisco, taking into consideration the Commission Streamlining Task Force recommendation to dissolve the Council and reassign its responsibilities to other City bodies.

Please be advised that the Chair may order the removal from the meeting room of any person(s) responsible for the ringing or use of a cell phone, pager, or other similar sound-producing electronic devices.

 

In order to assist the City’s efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illnesses, multiple chemical sensitivity, or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to various chemical-based products. Public Comment

Public comment will be taken on each agenda item involving discussion or action before the Council takes action on that item. The public is asked to wait for the particular agenda item before making a comment on that item. When the moderator announces that the Council is taking public comment, members of the public can stand before the Council and be called forward. Each member of the public may address the Council for up to three minutes, unless otherwise announced by the Chair.

 

Remote public comment will not be allowed, except as an accommodation for a disability. To obtain access to remote public comment options, please contact the Urban Forestry Council Coordinator at (415) 355-3734 or [email protected].

 

The Brown Act forbids the Council from taking action or discussing any item or issue not appearing on the posted agenda. This rule applies to issues raised in public comment as well. In response to public comment, not on an agendized item, the Council is limited to:

 

1.   Briefly responding to statements made or questions posed by members of the public, or 

2.   Requesting staff to report back on a matter at a subsequent meeting, or 

3.   Directing staff to place the item or issue on a future agenda (Government Code Section 54954.2(a).)

 

Please note that persons unable to attend the meeting may submit to the Council, by the time the proceedings begin, written comments regarding the agenda items above. These comments will be made a part of the official public record and shall be brought to the attention of the Council Members. Any written comments should be sent to: Urban Forestry Council Coordinator, 1455 Market Street, 13A, San Francisco, CA 94103 by 5:00 p.m. on the day prior to the meeting. Comments that cannot be delivered to the Urban Forestry Council Coordinator by that time may be taken directly to the meeting at the location above. When bringing handouts to meetings, please photocopy on both sides of the paper and try to use post-consumer recycled or tree-free paper. In addition, please bring sufficient copies of handouts for the Council Members, the Urban Forestry Council Coordinator, and the public.

Meeting minutes may be translated, if requested, after they have been adopted by the Council. Assistance in additional languages may be honored whenever possible. Las minutas podrán ser traducidas, de ser requeridas, luego de ser aprobadas por la Comisión. La asistencia en idiomas adicionales se tomará en cuenta siempre que sea posible. Know Your Rights Under the Sunshine Ordinance
